The good cause in question was the Chemical Dependency Centre, and the event
was the Elf Extremely Trivial Pursuit 1994.  The ruse ? Well, in London on
July 18th, HRH Duchess of York dropped the flag on 45 cars bound for Monte
Carlo in a wild and Wacky Racers inspired treasure hunt. Each participant
was armed only with a map and a set of cryptic clues and, seeing that the
charity is celebrating its tenth anniversary, everyone had to don fancy
dress and be in possesion of an 'interesting car'. The Batmobile in question
as far as EC was concerned was a yummy Ferrari 456GT and his Boy Wonder for
the duration was none other than lensman (and _guitarist_ cover
sharpshooter) Jack English."
