Led Zeppelin Tour and Bootleg Info
               ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                        version 7/1/93
PART 1. INTRODUCTION
====================
Here is some info for (starting) Led Zeppelin bootleg collectors.
This is info I have gathered from the Led Zeppelin mailing list,
and two books: Godwin and Lewis, see PART 2. Both books disagree on
many tour dates. Therefore, (and for lack of inspiration) the tour
overview of PART 3 is a global one. Specific dates are usually warm up dates.
In PART 4, an overview is given on what's available from what period.
Emphasis lies on what's available on CD. Most of these are of good
to excellent quality, but you can never be sure, so always listen first!
In PART 5, the official albums are listed (not including the Remasters
and the Boxed set) and in PART 6 I have attempted to sketch which songs
were played on what tours (not necessarily on all shows of that tour!).
I do not claim that this overview is correct, but it will be close.
Hope this will help to find a way through all this bootleg mess.
PART 2. RECOMMENDED BOOKS
=========================
The Illustrated Collector's Guide to Led Zeppelin by Robert Godwin.
Kitchener, Ontario: Blue Flake Productions '84
Third edition, 1990.  Contains info on individual session
work, guest appearances from 1962 - 1988, post Zep solo stuff, legit and
black market (bootleg) videos from 1967 - 1990, the Swansong catalog,
promos and radio broadcasts, listing of every known concert date and venue,
posters, books, all albums and singles and cd's,  750 illustrations (mostly
of album covers ), some posters, etc..., and lastly and most
importantly, the bootlegs; 342 zeppelin bootleg lps, 65 bootleg cd's, and
solo and yardbird boots as well. This was a must have book, but currently
it's out of date, listing only a fraction of the available CD's.
It costs about $15.95 U.S.
Canadian address for the book:
The Illustrated Collector's Guide To Led Zeppelin
Collectors's Guide
PO Box 305
688 Brant Street, Burlington, Ontario, Canada
*****
Led Zeppelin - A Celebration  by Dave Lewis
$19.95 (+$3.50 p + h)
available from Rick Barret
PO Box 66262
Houston, TX  77266-6262
(canada p+h $6, overseas $8)
A book by the author of the highly appreciated The Final Acclaim.
Very enthusiastic book about Zep. Not about the wild life on the road,
or the juicy gossip that followed Zep, but about their music and their
talents as artists. Lots of new pictures, and a track-by-track
analysis of all Zep's records. And an overview of tourdates.
Another book which I don't know but which I'm told that it's great is
 Led Zeppelin Live
 An Illustrated Exploration of Underground Tapes
